Biz kids ny, inc. is a theater school dedicated to the training of young actors. Biz kids has been incorporated since 1993, although Director Peggy Lewis has been teaching for over 25 years. Our training program is Classic Conservatory-style training. Our students study mime, mask, space improvisation, speech, dance/movement, interpretation of scripts from Classics to Contemporary for film, television and theater. Our actors range in age from 6 to 18, and we have adult classes as well. We have guest teachers in movement, musical theater, stage combat, clown and image consultation. We also offer courses in makeup, wardrobe, on-camera and audition techniques and our business course, which parents are encouraged to attend. Biz kids is a rigorous training program. It is our intention to allow every young person to find the “talents” they possess and through the highest level of training develop the skills necessary to work in our industry. In an effort to maintain our artistic integrity, we have a policy of auditioning students for placement in our programs. We have an excellent reputation in the industry as being a thoughtful, caring and highly professional training program. Some of our young people have been in our program for several years. Many of our actors have been working professionally since they were young kids. They respect the work and the commitment to learning the craft. We work very hard to offer our kids the highest level of professional training within a supportive and nurturing environment. As directors, teachers and fellow students, we commit ourselves to maintaining an environment that is safe and conducive to ones self discovery and expression. It is essential that our environment be without prejudice towards ones race, religion, sexual orientation or socio-economic background.
